On holding Punjab Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Election, the federal government is helpless as Parliament has not given the authority to release funds, Attorney General told the Supreme Court of Pakistan in-chamber briefing.

Attorney General of Pakistan said that the federal government is helpless in the matter of releasing funds for the provincial elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because the parliament has not authorized the government to release the funds.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says that the United Arab Emirates has confirmed giving one billion dollars to the IMF for Pakistan.

After the initial hearing on the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill, the Supreme Court said in an interim order that apparently the proposed law has interfered with the independence of the judiciary, so the bill cannot be implemented until the order is amended.

In a joint statement, the coalition parties in the government have rejected the Supreme Court’s order to stay the judicial reform bill until further orders.
