There are no two opinions about the onslaught of destruction and havoc caused by Israel on the Palestinian in a new wave of terror. It started with the militants in Gaza fired thousands of rockets towards Israeli towns on October 7, as well as sending forces in Israeli settlements by breaking through the heavy wired fences with Israel.

Hamas’s mandate needs to be understood in order to realize that a very just Palestinian cause is being used as a springboard for an ‘absolutist’ view. Hamas does not support a political solution of two-state theory. This is basically what the Palestinians want. Hence the deal Israel & Saudi Arab that has presently been put on the anvil-involved measures to strengthen the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. If Israel’s military operations in the West Bank persist for an extended period, this agreement could falter.

Hamas considers Israel to be an illegal state & has always refused to deal with Israel, besides calling for its downfall.

Such non-state actors are either created or supported by other stakeholders in the international arena. Iran has contributing up to $100 million annually to various Palestinian terrorist groups, including Hamas and Palestine Islamic Jihad. A Saudi Arab & Israel peace deal means war with Iran. “If Saudi Arabia teams up with Israel, Iran will assume that Riyadh will provide a platform for the Israeli military to launch a swift attack against Iran, even if the Saudi leadership has no intentions of doing so.” [Foreign Policy AUGUST 30, 2023]

Reports state that not just Saudi Arab, but if any other Gulf nation gets too cozy with Israel-there will be a severe backlash from Iran.

The fault line lies in the fact that it is not in interest of Iran for the Saudi Arab & Israel deal to go through that ultimately aims at strengthening Palestinian Authority in Gaza. The deal goes against the grain of Hamas as it does not accept the existence of Israel.

The attack at this point is not in the long-term interest therefore of the Palestinians, whatever else people may like to believe!
