Pakistan’s first-ever International Qirat competition will begin in Islamabad from tomorrow (Monday).

The five-day competition that is being arranged by Ministry of Religious Affairs brings together reciters from more than 40 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. One reciter from Pakistan will also participate in this competition.

The judging panel will comprise three international judges and five Pakistani judges.

Addressing a news conference in this regard, Pakistan’s renowned Qari and Ministry of Religious Affairs Coordinator Syed Sadaqat Ali said the initiative marks a historic moment for Pakistan, positioning it on the global map of Quranic recitation.

He said the event will not only promote Pakistan’s tradition of Qirat but also motivate the country’s youth to pursue excellence in Quranic recitation.

Meanwhile, Qaris from various countries have started arriving in Pakistan to participate in the Competition.

According to Ministry of Religious Affairs, so far, Qaris belonging to Chad, Somalia and Ghana have arrived in Islamabad.
