Karachi: Chairman, printer and publisher of the Jang Group, Mir Javed-ur-Rahman has passed away battling lung cancer in Karachi on Tuesday.

Mir Javed-ur-Rahman was the eldest son of the late visionary Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman, and elder brother of Jang/Geo Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman.

He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi where doctors diagnosed him with lung cancer. According to hospital report, he suffered from diabetes and lung cancer. Further, he also suffered a heart attack during hospitalization, after which he was admitted to ICU.

Mir Javedur Rehman knew no wile and guile

Born on August 16, 1946, Mir Javed-ur-Rahman was an extraordinary man whose journalistic life spanned more than half a century. He inherited twin qualities of being a fearless journalist and someone who would relentlessly pursue the truth from his father.

Under his visionary leadership, Jang Group became Pakistan’s largest media group, operating newspapers, magazines, and TV channels across the country.
