President directs PIA to expedite compensation process for plane crash victims

President Dr. Arif Alvi directed CEO Pakistan International Airline (PIA), Air Marshal Arshad Mehmood Malik, to expedite the process of compensation to families of the victims of plane crash.

He gave these directions to the CEO of PIA during a briefing at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today. CEO PIA briefed the President about the investigation into plane crash and the relief efforts made by PIA.

He informed that 44 bodies had been handed over to the heirs of air crash so far. The President said that the air crash was a great tragedy which had shocked the entire nation.

He said that he would contact the families of the victims to condole with them over the loss of their near and dear ones. The President also appreciated the measures taken by PIA with regard to relief efforts and facilities provided to families of the deceased.

It is to be remembered that PIA flight PK-8303 crashed in a residential area near Karachi Airport a minute before landing carrying 99 passengers on May 22.
