Lahore: According to reports, complete details have been released regarding the amount spent by the Punjab Government for fighting the corona virus.
According to the details, out of a budgeted Rs 5 billion, specialised services have utilised only Rs 1.5 billion. Primary and secondary healthcare has spent out of a budgeted Rs 6,73,80,00,000, only Rs 74,20,00,000. Collectively the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department had been allocated Rs 5.173 billion our of which Rs 1.323 billion had been issued to the hospital Medical Superintendents for procurement purposes. Rs 607 million was spent on various machinery. Out of the total budget the department allocated Rs 4587.874 million on masks, disinfectants, testing kits, and PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), whereas a purchase order of Rs 2889 million was issued for the purchase of these items.
On the other hand, more than Rs 1200 billion has been allocated to the treatment of corona virus, Rs 71 billion for the purchase of medical equipment, and Rs 150 billion for poor families.
It may be noted that along with the rest of the country, the city of the lively has come under the attack of this deadly virus. During 24 hours there have been a further 11 deaths, totalling 325 deaths in 91 days, and 1342 new corona cases, crossing the total of 25,000. There is also an increase in admitted serious patients, with 135 fighting for their lives on a ventilator, 191 in the ICU and 749 in corona wards.
Various teaching hospitals have been given the injection Actemra on a need basis, including 60 for the 15 serious patients at Mayo Hospital, and 48 each for the 12 each serious patients at PKLI (Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute) and General Hospital. Injections have been allocated to other hospitals including Services Hospital.
