Indian families raising questions on Indian Defence Budgets

Families of retired and serving officers have written an open letter to the Indian Army Chief, complaining that after all the heavy defence budgets, India has lost its face after the humiliation by China.

According to reports, the Indian army is disheartened and an atmosphere of despair prevails in it. Feeling this delicate situation, the families of retired and serving officers have written this open letter that has further brought down the morale.

The letter says that us families of India’s serving and retired soldiers, stand with our soldiers. It told the army chief that while it is true that our army has been humiliated and defeated at Galwan Valley, Ladakh, but despite this we are not scared. Yes, we pray for our soldiers during this difficult time. However, we need to know what happened in Galwan. We also agree with you that you must have adopted a strategy at Galwan Valley and Ladakh warfronts, but then we should at least be told why he had to experience such a defeat there.

We need answers to some questions:

  • If there has been no interference on the part of China, then how come was there a heavy loss of lives including a commanding officer?
  • Not only were our soldiers brutally killed, but their bodies were distorted. Why?
  • Did they enter enemy territory themselves (as China claims) and the attack was in self-defence?
  • Why are we witnessing a new drama daily related to the Ladakh disaster?
  • Will we ever learn the truth?
  • Did our soldiers fall into their own trap?

Sir, (the Army Chief), after the way the Chinese forces made an example of our soldiers and killed them brutally, it is you alone who are hardhearted enough to bear such a loss. We certainly cannot tolerate it. We are worried at what kind of policies you have that the enemy could enter our territory and kill us and we are the ones who are offering explanations.

Sir, we ask, is the might of our army, navy, and airforce, only for show? We say that we have the biggest army, navy, and airforce, of the world. Where are they? We are facing a difficult time both internally and externally. Although every citizen of the country stands with our army, the destruction at Ladakh has shown that we have no mechanism and no command. We are just getting along. It is an excuse to eat up the public’s money.

It is strange that those who duty it is to protect us were trying to look for a place to escape from the Chinese. Is this really what we claim?

Sir, (Army Chief), keep your hand on your heart and ask yourself:

  • Have you done justice to your responsibilities and privileges?
  • Did you go to help your soldiers?
  • Did you not let the politicians make you a sacrificial lamb and let them take decisions that harmed the organisation?
  • Did you not get our soldiers in Ladakh killed? Were their bodies not disfigured?

We are convinced these things greatly upset you and also that you can answer these questions better, but shouldn’t those sitting in government have handed in their resignations on a moral basis?

We also know that it is difficult for you to tolerate what Chin did to our soldiers, but what is this that the enemy could enter our territory and kill us and we are still not willing to acknowledge it. It will not be possible to protect the country like this.

We sacrificed our loved ones for the protection of this country but at this rate we will have reason to fear for our own lives.

We should be told whether our soldiers will continue to get killed like this or will our demoralised army be inspired to prepare itself for revenge? The decision is yours.

Lastly, we also ask of you, that if even after eating up all the budget of India and taking perks and privileges, our soldiers are only going to get brutally killed, what can be a bigger humiliation than this? Move on. “We are with you” and “Jai Hind” can only get safeguarded when the whole nation stands with you. We hope something like this will not happen again.
