Senior US diplomat Ambassador Alice Wells denied the reports of Indian administration talking to US State department of its decision of stripping the Indian Occupied Kashmir of its special status.

According to reports of Baaghitv, Ambassador Alice Wells, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, rejected the Indian media claims of talking to US before revoking the Article 370 and Article 35-A of the Indian constitution.

US State Department rejected these claims through a tweet which reads, ‘the Indian government did not consult or inform the US Government…’

Earlier, Indian media claimed, the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had apprised his American counterpart Mike Pompeo of their plan.

This is not the first time Indian claimed of consulting the US has been rejected. Earlier, the India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval had phoned his US counterpart John Bolton of plans to do away with the special status.
