Lahore, (19th March, 9:00 pm): PTI member steps down after being sidelined in NA-249 ticket.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Malik Shehzad Awan submitted his resignation on Friday after the ruling party snubbed him in giving a ticket for the NA-249 constituency.

Awan stepped down in the Sindh assembly after submitting his resignation to Opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh.

According to reports, he said that Amjad Khan Afridi, who was the ruling party’s candidate for NA-249, was unpopular in the constituency.

Awan added, “I have to win this seat no matter what so I can gift it to Prime Minister Imran Khan. That’s why I’ve submitted my resignation.”

According to reports, PTI’s Faisal Vawda had won from Karachi’s NA-249 constituency during the 2018 general election but earlier this month he stepped down after winning a seat during the Senate elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued earlier that voting would take place on April 29, 2021, for the NA-249 constituency.
