A conversation with Noam Chomsky at Karachi’s notable university

Karachi, 7th December: The American linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, social critic, and political activist, Noam Chomsky addressed the students at Karachi’s private university on Monday.
While speaking at a virtual lecture organised by Karachi’s Habib University, he said that today’s generation faces questions that have never been raised before in human history.
“These questions are a burden and a challenge,” said Chomsky, who last visited Pakistan nearly 20 years ago.

Speaking of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic at the 6th Yohsin Lecture by the Habib University, he said the world would come out of it “at a very costly and inevitable price”.

“The American people fell victim to right-wing propaganda,” the political activist said before noting that China, was in the critical stages of testing the coronavirus vaccine.
“The Chinese vaccine may become available earlier,” he commented. “The US government is undermining the measures China is taking.”
According to reports of Geo News, the historian warned of the growing threat of the nuclear war while delivering the lecture. Chomsky also pointed out that the climate emergency needs to be tackled as well.
“If no action is taken, there is a risk of environmental catastrophe. South Asia faces threats from climate change,” he said.
