Islamabad, 7th December: A special meeting of the Apex Committee chaired by the Chief Minister was convened today regarding major decisions during the second wave of coronavirus.
Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat, Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Special Assistant for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary, senior officers and medical experts were also present in the meeting.
The Apex Committee expressed deep concern over the non-implementation of SOPs during the second wave of COVID-19.
The participants of the meeting agreed to take effective measures in a coordinated manner for the implementation of SOPs. The Committee expressed its commitment to making concerted efforts to make the lives of the people safer.
The military and civilian leadership will continue to work together for the protection of human lives. All necessary resources will be utilized for the treatment of coronavirus patients in hospitals.
The committee also proposed fines for violating SOPs in markets, bazaars and public places. It was decided to implement the times of closure of markets and bazaars through administrative measures.
It was decided to further restrict movement in areas with smart lockdown and micro lockdown.
Apex Committee Corp Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan expressed his commitment to continue cooperating with the Punjab government in tackling the coronavirus pandemic challenges.
The second wave of coronavirus has risen alarmingly. The government wants to reverse this wave by taking precautionary measures and SOPs. Necessary restrictions have been imposed keeping in view the economic problems of the working class.
Chief Minister informed that HDUs have been reactivated in teaching hospitals. Field Hospital has also been reactivated in Expo Center. Funds have been provided to the Health Department on a priority basis.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and the corps commander of the Apex Committee participants paid tribute to the professional services of Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan. Corps Commander Lahore Lt. Gen. Majid Ehsan provided full support during the Corona Outbreak and other challenges. He is grateful for the cooperation of Lt. Gen. Majid Ehsan.
