In light of the current turbulent situation in Afghanistan, Afghan National Assembly speaker, Mir Rahman Rahmani, has left for Islamabad.

Afghan National Assembly Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani along with Ustad Muhammad Qadri and other members of the Afghan delegation have left for Islamabad on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, according to Afghan media.

It should be noted that the Taliban are entering the capital Kabul today after two months of fighting with Afghani government forces. The Taliban have instructed their fighters to give safe passage to those who want to leave Kabul.

The Taliban say they will not enter the city by force or war.

“The capital Kabul is a large and densely populated city,” they say. The mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan do not intend to enter the city through power or war, but to enter it peacefully without compromising one’s life, wealth and honor.

According to reports, Taliban leaders in Doha have said instructions have been issued to armed fighters to avoid violence in Kabul, to keep the city exits open and safe, and to escort the women and children to security sites.

“(We) instruct all our forces to stand at the gates of Kabul, and not to try to enter the city,” they said.

“All trade agencies and banks in Kabul should continue their work. No harm will be done to commercial institutions and banks. The Afghan Taliban has forgiven all personnel working in the government and the army. We have no intention of taking revenge on anyone,” they said.

Taliban forces caused Afghan troops stationed at the Pak-Afghan Torkham border to flee and as such, the Torkham border has been closed for traffic. Furthermore, the Taliban also took control of Jalalabad without fighting as its governor surrendered to them.
