Air India flight returns midway, pilot found COVID-19 positive
An Air India flight from Delhi to Moscow returned midway after the airline’s ground team found out the pilot was coronavirus positive.
According to details, the state-run carrier’s Delhi-Moscow Airbus A-320 Neo (VT-EXR) was forced to return as the ground team realized the pilot was a COVID-19 patient after the plane had taken off.
The plane with no passengers onboard was on its way to Moscow to evacuate stranded Indians under Vande Bharat Mission.
AVIATION WOES
The flight had reached Uzbekistan’s airspace when it was called back.
According to the Air India officials, there was an error in the pre-flight test report, which was read as negative initially. The pilot reportedly took ill during the flight and was called back.
