The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter staged a protest in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today, to mark India’s Republic Day as a Black Day.

Besides the leaders of APHC-AJK, heads and leaders of various political parties of Azad Jammu and Kashmir also participated in the protest. Speakers on the occasion said that democracy is the name of respect for public opinion but India has never respected the public opinion. They said that India has no right to celebrate its Republic Day in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and as it has illegally occupied the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people.

Hurriyat leaders and other speakers expressed concern over the rising Indian state terrorism in IIOJK. They said that India had been using brutal tactics to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment but miserably failed in its nefarious designs. They said that the Kashmiris were sacrificing their lives for a great cause and they would continue their struggle till they achieved their cherished goal.

The Hurriyat leaders deplored that India was trying to alter the demographic composition of IIOJK to render the UN resolutions on the Kashmir relevant. They urged the international community to put pressure on India to settle the Kashmir dispute by giving the Kashmiris their right to self-determination so that lasting peace could be ensured in South Asia.

An anti-India rally was also held at the end of the demonstration.
