7th February 2021: Asad Umar has taken notice of VIPs receiving the vaccine in Sindh and violation of protocols. He has declared that if the provinces fail to handle the vaccines, the federal government would have to take control of their disbursement.
He said that it is a matter for concern if provinces fail in the task given to them and a VVIP culture abounds even in administering vaccines. He said it is not possible for the federal government to remain a silent spectator to such proceedings. He said that it is health care workers who have the greater need for the vaccine, and its misuse is a betrayal of trust.
It may be mentioned here that there has been a report of ordinary people receiving the vaccine at the Sindh Health Department under political influence. The Health Department has accordingly suspended the District Health Officer East Dr Aneela Qureshi.
