Nov 9, 2021: All-rounder Glenn Maxwell is unsure whether he will visit Pakistan in Australia in March-April as he and his fiance are currently planning their long-delayed wedding.

Maxwell and pharmacist Vini Raman were engaged in March 2020, but due to the Covid 19 lockdown and restrictions, they had to change their wedding schedule several times. The 33-year-old will be among the first players to be selected for Australia’s limited-overs matches against Pakistan between March 29 and April 5, following a three-Test series in the South Asian country.

“I think it’s great that we got a tour back there. I think it was 1998 when we last went there,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

Asked if his fiance might consider rescheduling, Maxwell said: “There is no chance. We’ve already moved it a couple of times, so I guess that’s it.”

Australia will face Pakistan in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in Dubai on Thursday as they bid for their first title in a world tournament. While he was in top form during the Indian Premier League, Maxwell did not play the kind of devastating innings with the bat in the World Cup that Australian fans longed for.

However, he was starved for a chance in the last two matches, remaining unbeaten in both wins against Bangladesh and the West Indies without scoring a run.

“I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’ve got two not-out-backs that are rare in my career,” he said with a laugh. “It simply means that if I don’t spend much time there, the top order is really going well. “I’ve been in a really good place so hopefully (I) don’t need it again or hope I need another zero not out and just stay on the other end.”
