Lahore, 15th April: The Prime Minister and the Federal Cabinet has approved a ban on the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) under the anti-terrorism act.

According to reports, on Thursday a circulation summary was presented to Prime Minister Imran Khan and the cabinet by the interior ministry seeking the ban on the religiopolitical party.

The request for putting a ban on TLP comes from the Punjab Government after protests were held by the party workers disrupting the law and order situation in Lahore mainly.

The protest took a violent turn when the workers of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) held clashes with police personnel killing 2 and causing injuries to more than 300 others.

According to earlier reports, the premier had green signalled the summary sent on Wednesday by the Ministry of Interior to blacklist the religious party.

While addressing a press conference yesterday, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed announced that the Pakistan government has decided to put a ban on TLP under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, (11) B.
