Board of Cricket Control India (BCCI) which is said to be the richest cricket board of the world has not paid cricketers’ dues for 10 months, leaving players in financial trouble amid coronavirus.

According to Indian media, 27 central contract cricketers did not get quarterly installments from October last year. Furthermore, the players have not yet received match fees for the two Tests, nine ODIs and eight T20Is played since December 2019.

According to the 2018 balance sheet, BCCI has INR 5,526 crore in cash and bank balances, of which INR 2,992 crore are fixed deposits in the bank. According to reports, despite this huge amount of money, the Indian board has failed to pay the dues of the players and 8 cricketers have confirmed that they have not received the dues.

The Indian board currently owes a total of Rs 99 crore to the cricketers in A+, A, B and C categories. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jaspreet Bumrah in A+ category get Rs 7 crore annually, while A category players get Rs 5 crore, B category players get Rs 3 crore and C category players get Rs 1 crore annually.

The Indian board pays players Rs 1,500,000 for each Test match fee, while the ODI match fee is Rs 600,000 and the T20I match fee is Rs 300,000.
