According to reports, the PPP Chairman and son of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the nation will never forget the national spirit, long struggle, and strong leadership of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. She was an ideal world leader who made a historic struggle for democracy in Pakistan with great bravery, she took steps to make the country a true welfare state in the light of the thoughts and vision of the founding ancestors.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari further said that the assassination of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi was not just a murder of the dream to liberate the people from poverty, unemployment, and injustice but the assassination of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was a conspiracy to kill the entire nation.

After the formation of the government, the PPP requested the United Nations to conduct an inquiry into Benazir’s assassination in accordance with its old demand, which was accepted. Asif Ali Zardari had claimed on the first anniversary of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination that he knew who the killers were. But, in his speech on the second anniversary of the assassination after becoming president, he did not say anything about it.

Nine years eight months later, the special anti-terrorism court had ruled in Benazir Bhutto’s murder case. Judge Asghar Khan, while delivering the verdict, acquitted five accused, including police officers, former CPO Rawalpindi Saud Aziz and former SP City Khurram Shehzad, ordering a total of 17 years imprisonment while declaring former president, Pervez Musharraf a fugitive.
