Restoration of the Bibi Pak Daman project, which should have been finished in June, has been facing delays, even after almost a year of being in progress.
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife has often been involved in a number of charitable projects, and restoration of mausoleums of important figures has been one of them. One project, the Bibi Pak Daman project which should have been finished last month, has been facing delays. This is particularly concerning because pilgrims start arriving in droves from the month of Zilhaj.
According to sources, the project has been underway for 8 to 9 months, and no official is taking the responsibility of actually having it finished, even though both the Pakistan Government and the Punjab Government stated that they would take charge of it. There are not enough laborers working on-site, despite the budget being massive, of either Rs. 21 or 23 crores.
There is a lack of seriousness on part of the laborers themselves as well, and reports show them lounging around, without actually properly working. The project by itself is supposed to be quite a massive one, with the dome height being 140 feet.
It is stated that some media houses are trying to kill the project, due to some strange agenda — the project was delayed because of lack of proper decision-making, and also for a while, it was undecided just how much of an area the place was going to span.
The team in charge of the project, as well as the contractor, require guidance and support. They need to let it be known what is actually going on, however, they are concerned the project might be scrapped, and that would be quite disastrous for all parties involved. All in all, for pilgrims particularly, it is quite a disappointing situation since they come from afar but are unable to pay their respects.
