New Delhi: A crane weighing 70 tonnes fell at the Indian shipyard at the Indian port of Visakhapatnam, killing 11 employees, according to reports.

Indian media say that the crane that was involved in the accident was manufactured by Anupam Cranes, a Mumbai-based company, two years ago, but it has not yet become operational.

According to Indian officials, the accident occurred during the test of the new crane. Among those killed were four shipyards and seven contract employees. The death toll is expected to rise while investigations into the crash are ongoing.
