Board Exams cancelled, educational institutions closed until July 15

ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan (GoP) has abolished all board examinations across the country amid the coronavirus pandemic. 

In a media briefing after the meeting of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC), Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said that it was earlier decided to keep the educational institutions closed till May 31, which is now being extended for another month and a half. However, the institutions will remain closed till July 15.

Lockdown to be lifted from Saturday in Pakistan

The Education Minister said that due to the situation, the examinations of the boards have not been postponed but abolished, after which the examinations of Matriculation (9th & 10th) and Intermediate (11th & 12th) will no longer be held.

Shafqat Mahmood said that the students would be promoted after seeing the result of the last year and similarly admission in the university would be given on the basis of the result of Class XI.

According to the recent development, the imposed lockdown will be lifted on Saturday across the country. The decision was taken during the meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) today that was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Notably, the decision to lift lockdown came amid the exceptional surge in COVID-19 cases as Pakistan has witnessed a spike in coronavirus cases as the number surged to 24,073 in the country, while the death toll stands at 564.
