June 5, 2021: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against journalist Hamid Mir for insulting national institutions.
The petition, filed by local lawyer Nadeem Sarwar, named Hamid Mir as a party to the Federation of Pakistan, Home Department and senior journalist. The petitioner said in the petition filed in the Lahore High Court that Hamid Mir had criticized and insulted Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Using language, petitioner Hamid Mir has committed the crime of national uprising, the federal government did not take any action against Hamid Mir for using language against national institutions. It is against the law for the federal government not to take action against Hamid Mir Mir, the court ordered the federal government to register a case of sedition against Hamid Mir.
