Officers who approved Nasla Tower construction Revealed

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), and a housing society over irregularities in the construction of Nasla Tower that is now being demolished on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).

According to the details, an FIR has been registered at Ferozabad police station on the complaint of the incumbent SHO against officers of SBCA, officials of Sindhi Muslim Cooperative Housing Society (SMCHS) and other concerned bodies.

The text of the lawsuit states that Abdul Qadir, the builder who built Nasla Tower, with the connivance of SMCHS, SBCA and MPD, illegally built flats and shops on the land allotted for Service Road. The court had ordered to register a criminal case and take action against the officers.

SCP orders demolition of Nasla Tower in a week

Sections 161, 167, 218, 408, 409, 420, 447 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) have been included in the lawsuit. After the case was registered, the police investigation team reached Sindh Building Control Authority.

It may be recalled that during the hearing in the Supreme Court yesterday regarding the demolition of Nasla Tower, the court had ordered that the anti-corruption department should register a case against the responsible officers while the police should register a separate case against the officers involved.

The apex court had directed DIG Sharqi to submit a report on criminal proceedings at the next hearing.

During the hearing yesterday, the apex court directed the official assignee of the Sindh High Court (SHC) to take possession of the land of Nasla Tower and stop the sale and also ordered ordered the anti-corruption department to register a case against those involved in approving the building plan.

The court directed the Anti-Corruption Department to submit a report after conducting legal proceedings and investigation and directed the Commissioner Karachi to complete the demolition of Nasla Tower within a week and utilize all necessary government resources in this process.

In a hearing on October 25, 2021, the SCP ordered the demolition of the Nasla Tower, a residential building on Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi, within a week with ‘controlled explosives’. The court had directed the commissioner Karachi that the blast should not cause any damage to nearby buildings or any person.

The SCP had ordered the owner of Nasla Tower to return the money to the victims and directed the Commissioner Karachi to ensure the return of money to the Commissioner Karachi victims. On November 24, 2021, the Supreme Court had directed the Commissioner Karachi to use city-wide machinery to demolish the Nasla Tower.
