Lahore (12th Dec, 2019): Police register terrorism cases against lawyers for attack on Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). 

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Punjab police have reportedly registered cases of terrorism against lawyers after the attack on Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore. PIC which is a well-known hospital for people suffering from heart related diseases was attacked by lawyers in protest on the 11th of December, 2019.

The attack resulted in the death of innocent patients and loss of precious medical equipment. Moreover, two cases have so far been registered against the lawyers in Shadman police station with reference to the PIC incident.

The cases have been registered against more than 250 lawyers. According to reports, almost fifteen of those lawyers have been nominated in the FIR for acts such as:

  • interfering in government work
  • subjecting para-medic staff and doctors to torture
  • damaging government property
  • robbing
  • murder
  • terrorizing patients and civilians

Moreover, reports confirm that the lawyers were involved in damaging precious machinery and medical equipment worth millions while also being responsible for harassing and assaulting female medical staff including nurses who were in the hospital at the time of the incident. Sources claim that they were even responsible for causing distress to the nurse in-charge by tearing off her clothes and snatching her locket.

Additionally, sections related to the torturing of police officials, torching of police mobile and damaging vehicles of citizens including engaging in aerial firing have also been included in the registered cases.
