Cases pending in the court should be disposed of in a month and a half, Chief Justice Lahore High Court

LAHORE 17 February 2021: Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a major order regarding disposal of pending cases for speedy delivery of justice. According to details, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Muhammad Qasim Khan has given an important decision and has ordered to decide thousands of cases pending for years in a month and a half.

Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan, while instructing the session judges of the Directorate of District Judiciary on the matter, said that all pending civil and session cases up to 2016 should be disposed of by March 31. It should be noted that when Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan was sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court on March 19 last year, he first started working on three points. These included ensuring timely delivery of justice to the sailans, taking practical steps for the welfare of lawyers, and making transparent appointments of judges in the Supreme Court and lower courts.

Punjab is the largest province in Pakistan in terms of population but is also the largest province in terms of pending cases. 84% of pending cases in Pakistan are pending in the courts of Punjab alone and 16% are pending in other provinces.
