Central Punjab to Face Northern in PCB U16 National ODI Final

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21 (APP): Central Punjab and Northern will lock horns in the final of the PCB Under-16 National ODI on Tuesday Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Both teams reached the final by winning four matches each in the five-round event.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finished third in the points table, bagging six points. In the fifth round of the event played on Sunday, Central Punjab, Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won their respective matches. Central Punjab defeated Sindh by nine wickets at Ayub Park Ground, Rawalpindi. The winning team achieved the target of 172 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 39.5 overs. Azan Owais played an unbeaten knock of 89 runs with the help of 13 fours. The other opener Musa Azeem scored 48 runs with the help of four fours and two sixes. Obaid Shahid remained unbeaten on 28. Romil Ahmed took the lone wicket for Sindh.

Earlier, Sindh were bowled out for 171 in 43.5 overs. All-rounder Hassan Iqbal (48) and opener Saad Baig (39) were the top scorers. Momin Qamar took four wickets for 30 runs. Ibtisam Rehman and Owais Ali took two wickets each. In the match played at Rawal Cricket Ground Rawalpindi, Northern defeated Southern Punjab by two wickets. Northern achieved the target of 153 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 37.4 overs. Opener Shamail Hussain stood out with 60 runs. His innings included nine fours and one six. Hamad Rafique scored 29 runs. Mehir Saeed took three wickets.

Earlier, Southern Punjab were all out for 152 in 38.4 overs. Mohammad Danish scored 39. Iftikhar Ahmed took three wickets while Ibrahim Sultan, Amir Hassan and Ehsanullah took two wickets each. In the match played at Pindi Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa overcame Balochistan by 64 runs. In pursuit of 242 runs, Balochistan managed to score only 177 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 45 overs.

Spinner Mohammad Irfan picked up three wickets while Mohammad Tahir claimed sent two players to the pavilion. Earlier, batting first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 241 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 45 overs. Opener Shahzeb Khan played an unbeaten innings of 105 off 135 balls with the help of eight fours. Riazullah remained unbeaten on 33 runs.
