Chairman PEMRA Warns of ‘Zero Tolerance’ for Broadcasting of Indian Content
Islamabad (20th Aug, 2019): Chairman PEMRA, Muhammad Saleem Baig, warns cable TV operators of zero tolerance on promotion of Indian content and channels.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman, Muhammad Saleem Baig during a meeting with cable TV operators in Gujranwala, has warned of ‘zero tolerance’ against all those who promote Indian content and Indian channels.
It has been confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who is found broadcasting Indian content which is in violation of orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and PEMRA.
Cable TV operators and representatives have been warned not to circulate content from Indian channels in the aftermath of the recent escalation between Pakistan and India on the basis of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Reports further claim that authorities will not spare any licensee for this violation, and lodge FIR against them for the promotion of Indian content.
Moreover, it has been confirmed that cable operators have assured the authorities of full support and solidarity with the State and PEMRA.
