LONDON: According to reports, the well-known newspaper Telegraph has claimed that China has succeeded in developing the corona vaccine.

According to a report in the British daily Telegraph, China has made several positive announcements in recent days regarding a vaccine to prevent the corona virus and that too at a time when the volunteer trial of Oxford University, which is considered to be at the forefront of the race due to an unknown illness of a volunteer, was postponed for a few days.

That’s why medical experts are seriously considering for the first time that China could develop the world’s first effective vaccine to prevent coronavirus. This is also possible because around the world, 9 corona vaccines are undergoing the third and final phase of trials, and 4 of them are from China.

According to Dr. Wapol Chaudhry of Biomedical Think Tank Policy Cures Research, “Three out of four vaccines in China use the inactivated covid-2 virus, which may be the best way to prevent this epidemic.”

“These vaccines can neutralize the virus as well as retain their antigenic properties. This is a traditional procedure, so it usually provides a good defense against the disease and reduces the risk of side effects,” he said.

Dr. Paul Ofet, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, agrees: “I think better about vaccines based on this method because we have a lot of experience with them. Another benefit is that it can help you develop an immune response not only to the spike protein but also to all the proteins in the corona virus.”

This week, China National Biotech Group (CNBG, China’s state-owned vaccine company) announced preliminary data on the third phase of its two vaccines that have been effective in saving covid-19 among volunteers.

CNBG secretary Zhao Song told China National Radio that millions of citizens have been given the company’s two experimental vaccines so far, which are currently undergoing the third phase of clinical trials.

“No one was vaccinated and no one was infected with the covid,” he said, adding that the vaccine could protect a person from corona virus for up to three years.

“The results of animal experiments and other research indicate that vaccine protection can last for one to three years,” he said.

China has promised to supply successful vaccines to other countries, and Chinese companies are conducting vaccine trials there.

Once the vaccine is ready, there may be logistical and manufacturing problems with its mass distribution.

China is not a big name in the world in terms of vaccine development and distribution, but India is ahead of it.

However, the CNBG said a new plant was being built that would increase the annual dose of the vaccine to more than 200 million.

On the other hand, Synovik is also building a new plant in Beijing that will produce 300 million doses a year.

In August, China said vaccines to prevent covid-19 would be approved only if their efficacy rate was at least 50 percent and immunity against the corona virus was maintained for six months.

A draft proposed by China’s Center for Drug Evolution (CCDE) has come out with regulations regarding the corona vaccine.

According to the draft, there is a minimum efficacy rate for vaccines for emergency use and this will include vaccines that have not completed a clinical trial but will be approved for use based on their efficacy.

Chinese guidelines on vaccine efficacy follow guidelines from the World Health Organization and the US Food and Drug Administration. The guidelines come as 4 corona vaccines have entered the final stages of clinical trials in China.
