China, 6th June: There are ongoing tensions between India and China at the Ladakh border. Baaghi TV reports that China has appointed a new military commander in Ladakh ahead of talks with India.

Talks on the Ladakh dispute between China and India are scheduled for today, June 6. After India’s pleas, China has backed the talks, but China has appointed a new military commander for Western Theater Command personnel.

The People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Western Theater Command has announced on its official website that Lt. Gen. Shokling has been named the new commander of its border guards. Prior to that, Lt. Gen. Shokling served in the Eastern Theater Command.

The PLA’s Western Theater Command oversees the LAC with India. This includes Army, Air Force and Rocket Force personnel headed by General Zhao Junki.

China made the new appointment at a time when the border dispute between Chinese and Indian officials, which began last month, is ongoing and is due to be discussed today.

This will be the first detailed meeting between the Chinese Army and the Indian Army, which will be chaired by Lieutenant Generals of the two countries.

Official sources in New Delhi said that Lieutenant General Harinder Singh, General Officer Commanding of the 14th Corps in Leh, would participate in the talks on behalf of India.

It may be recalled that the border clash between China and India, which started on May 5 in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley and then in Nikola area of northeastern Sikkim, was followed by bitterness between India and China three days later. The Chines army entered the area and arrested the Indian troops, who were later released.

According to Indian media reports, tensions between the Chinese and Indian armies have been simmering for the past 25 days.

Border tensions between China and India continue to rise, with more than 5,000 Chinese troops reportedly infiltrating India.
