Churails: The witches who wouldn’t burn for now

Lahore, 9th October: Web series ‘Churails’ is back in Pakistan after being banned for a couple of days.
According to the report of Baaghi TV, ‘Churails’ on India ZEE5, that got banned to be streamed for the Pakistani audience is back on track.
The series has been creating vibes since its release in August. The cast and the plot are highly appreciated by the audiences especially across the border.
Web series Churails suffers a hitch
‘Churails’ deals with the most sensitive social issues but in a bold manner, which is not taken well by the Pakistani audience.
A few days ago, a monologue delivered by the senior actress Hina Khawaja Bayat in one of the scenes from the drama got into a controversy which led to the social media uproar, as a result of which the series was taken down in Pakistan.
Just recently, Asim Abbasi the director of the series has announced that the witches are back on track. He made the official announcement on his Twitter handle:

The director has tweeted the confirmation on the same along with his clarification on the matter. He said, “The show was taken off the platform in Pakistan purely in compliance with a directive that we received. We have now addressed the matter and reinstated the show on our platform.”

ZEE5 has subsequently released an official statement, clarifying that the step was taken in compliance with a directive they received, reported Indian publication News18.

“Our aim has always been to create content that resonates strongly with viewers across the globe. Churails’ has been a phenomenal success story for us and has been lauded and loved the world over. The show was taken off the platform in Pakistan purely in compliance with a directive that we received,” a ZEE5 spokesperson was quoted as saying.
“We have now addressed the matter and reinstated the show on our platform,” a Zee5 spokesperson said in a statement.

Earlier, when the show went off-air, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had said that the removal was ZEE5’s own decision and wasn’t the government’s doing.
“It has not been blocked by PTA. ZEE5 has removed it due to objections on the content from the public,” a PTA spokesperson told The Express Tribune.
