The Council of Islamic Ideology has decided to issue a statement on moon-sighting controversy after Eid-ul-Fitr.

The council has asked the religious scholars for their point of views on this issue. The scholars will present their understandings on whether it is acceptable to follow the Islamic calendar without physical sighting of the moon or not.

CII will settle this debate between Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Minister Fawad Chaudhry after Eid.

However, Eid-ul-fitr date will be decided by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee through physical sighting.
