Court allows the wife of a prominent PPP figure to go abroad

According to Baaghi TV, the Sindh High Court heard the petition to remove the name of Sharjeel Memon’s wife from ECL.

Sharjeel Memon’s wife petitioned the court to order the federal government to remove her name from the ECL, on which the court allowed the wife of PPP leader Sharjeel Memon to leave the country.

Sharjeel Memon’s wife took a stand in the petition filed in the Sindh High Court that I am a business woman, I have business abroad, I have to come and go abroad for business, my son is also studying in UK, I was a permanent resident of the UAE before being granted bail in the case of assets in excess of income, my only fault is that I am the wife of Sharjeel Memon.

Sharjeel Memon’s wife Sadaf was allowed to leave the country from September 22 to October 2. Sindh High Court Justice KK Agha remarked that Sadaf Sharjeel is not the main accused in the reference, the accused were not charged. NAB prosecutor opposes removal of Sharjeel Memon’s wife’s name from ECL.

It is pertinent to mention that in the reference filed against Sharjeel Memon, it was said that he, as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, had embezzled money from the print and electronic media through advertisements. From July 2013 to June 2015, a public awareness campaign was launched on TV and FM channels, causing a loss of Rs 3.27 billion to the national exchequer.
