Lahore High Court (LHC) presided over a hearing for petitions against the formation of a JIT (Joint Investigation Team) to investigate the Wazirabad attack case in which Imran Khan was shot.

The court expressed its indignation at the non-appearance of PTI leaders who had filed a petition against the JIT. Advocate General Punjab appeared in the court.

Adjourning the hearing of the case till May 18, the court inquired about the whereabouts of the petitioners Dr. Yasmin Rashid and Umar Farooq. During the hearing, neither the petitioners nor the lawyers were present. The junior lawyer said that Burhan Moazzam Malik is within court limits and can be called if the court wishes.

While giving remarks, the court questioned the procedure for the hearing where the petitioners were absent. The court remarked it seems the petitioner does not want the case to be decided. Advocate General Punjab said that neither the members have been changed nor a new JIT has been formed.

A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on the petition to remove Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the party post. The court overruled the office objection of the registrar’s office and directed them to schedule the application for a hearing.

The court remarked that it is not the authority of the Election Commission (ECP) to look into the matter of disqualification. The petitioner’s lawyer said that time should be given for further arguments on this. Justice Abid Hussain Chatta heard the case. In the petition filed, Imran Khan, Chief Election Commission, and others have been made parties.

On the other hand, a petition has taken the stand that the ECP disqualified Imran Khan for hiding facts about the Toshakhana case. There is a precedent that Nawaz Sharif did not remain party president after disqualification by the court. Legally, no party head can remain after disqualification. Referred to the Election Commission, but no action was taken on the request to remove him from the post. The court ordered the removal of Imran Khan from the post of Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
