COVID-19: Areas of Lahore under strict lockdown

Lahore, 16th June: Several areas of Lahore are being sealed tonight due to the spike in the coronavirus cases.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, Lahore has become the epicenter of the virus in Pakistan, so the Punjab Government has issued orders to put a curfew in many areas.

The meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee approved to seal several areas in Lahore. Chief Secretary Punjab Jawad Rafique Malik, Secretary Health, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, and others attended the meeting.

After the meeting, it was decided to seal the following areas in Lahore from midnight today.

The areas include Ram Nagar Street No. 23, Chaudhry Building, Qila Gujar Singh, Abdul Karim Road, Usmania Colony, and Royal Park will be sealed.

Areas for immediate lockdown_updated

Karim Park Block 3, 2, and 4, Amin Park Street No. 1 will also be sealed.

Johartown Block B and F2 will also be sealed.

Canal View Society Block B will also be sealed, Wapda Town Block F2 and G will also be sealed.

PCSIR Block 2B, Askari 10 will be a complete cell.

All blocks of DHA Phase 5 will be sealed, Ghausia Colony, Al-Hamad Colony, Tariq Colony Cavalry Ground Shiraz Villas have been approved to be sealed.

Bilal Colony Daroghwala, Jallu Mor, Dhobi Mohalla will also be sealed.

Public unhappy about Smart Lockdown demands curfew from Govt

Batapur Block A, Bismillah Housing Scheme GT Road, Manawan, Hussainpura, Kothi Stop, and DHA Phase One will be fully sealed.

Quaid-e-Millat Colony Kacha Ravi Road, Gaja Pir Road Tajpura, Shah Alam Colony Street No. 2 was sealed in the evening.

Ali Muhammad Park, Street No. 3, Nizamabad Block E will be sealed.

It is pertinent to note that Baaghi TV had already reported a possible ‘smart lockdown’ earlier despite claims from the government that it is not in favor of a lockdown.

According to the latest reports, the government stated that those who do not take precautions will be punished severely and no concessions will be made. This is the only solution is to keep the people away from the virus.

In 24 hours, 4,443 new cases of coronavirus have come to light in Pakistan. The number of coronavirus cases in the country has increased to 148,921. 56,390 patients of coronavirus have recovered in the country.

Punjab has the highest number of coronavirus cases reaching up to 55878.

Government to impose targeted lockdowns in Pakistan

To curb the spread of coronavirus, the government has decided to close the hotspots. The National Command and Operations Center on Coronavirus Hotspots has taken significant steps to identify 20 cities in the country under testing, tracing, and quarantine strategy.

The National Command and Operations Center has issued instructions that more measures are needed in 20 cities of the country in view of the increase in coronavirus cases. Among the cities affected by coronavirus are Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujarat. Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, DG Khan, Ghotki, Swat, Malakand, Mardan, and others.
