COVID-19 Attacks Indian Cricket Team ahead of England Series
LONDON: The Indian team on a tour of England has suffered a major blow, where a a player of the team has tested positive for coronavirus.
According to Indian media, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has tested positive for COVID-19 on his tour to England after which he has been isolated immediately. There are no serious COVID -19 symptoms in the player tested positive, however, Rishabh Pant will not go to Durham with the team.
It is to be noted that Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah had already informed the Indian players about the Delta variant spreading in the United Kingdom (UK). Jay Shah said the players had been warned in a letter that vaccines against the Delta variant were not very effective.

Media reports tell that the Indian cricketers were also seen in various matches of the Euro Cup 2020 final and the Wimbledon tournament. Moreover, it is to be noted that Rishabh Pant is among the players who took the second dose of coronavirus vaccine four days ago.
The Indian team is on a three-week break after playing the World Test Championship against New Zealand. The first match of the five-match Test series between India and England will be played from August 4, 2021.
