COVID-19 may never go away, warns WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that it is wrong to assume that COVID-19 pandemic has come to an end.  According to the Reuters, the WHO’s chief scientist, Somiya Awami Nathan, it is wrong to say that the pandemic is over and that an immediate end to Corona Virus is impossible.

The chief scientist, while inspecting the corona vaccine manufacturing facilities in South Africa, warned in response to reporters’ questions that more variants of corona are likely to be born soon. Somiya Swami Nathan said that the pandemic has not yet ended in the world and it is not possible to eradicate it immediately.

According to the reports by WHO, scientists and experts have seen the evolution of the epidemic variable and its variants, which paves the path for future variants.

Global COVID-19 death toll exceeds 4 million

The chief scientist described the demise of Corona as “illusory” and said that the world should be prepared for new varieties of the epidemic. Earlier last month, the World Health Organization had said that the epidemic was likely to weaken by the end of 2022.

Most experts believe that as new varieties of Corona emerge, the epidemic will subside, as changes have been noticed in all species of Corona so far, and each new species, though more so than the previous ones. The spread was felt, but the damage was minimal.

WHO warns against blanket travel bans as Omicron spreads

The new type of corona, Delta, is considered to be the most widespread, but at the same time, it does not make people very sick and they recover faster. With this in mind, some experts believe that new strains of corona will weaken the disease and lead to its elimination.

But now the World Health Organization’s chief scientist says the corona epidemic will not end soon and more new strains are likely to be discovered.
