COVID-19: Toll increases in Pakistan, Lockdown extended

Lahore, 14th April: The entire human race is in a state of war against an invisible, implacable and lethal enemy. The virus has put all the states under pressure as each one is devising plans to combat COVID-19.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Pakistan is seeing a rapid increase in the confirmed cases of coronavirus all over the country. To contain the spread of the virus the government is considering increasing the lockdown for two more weeks.

It may be noted that previously the government has announced a countrywide lockdown till the 14th of April. After assessing the situation of the affected persons in the country, the National Assembly is planning to extend the lockdown till the 30th of April.

However, there will be relief provided to some sectors in the country during this lockdown. Some decisions are made to open construction and trade businesses. Few services/shops tailor-made plumber, electrician, mechanic and barber jobs will be allowed for a limited time in a day. However, transport, air travel, markets, shopping malls, wedding halls will be closed. No public gatherings will be allowed.

COVID-19: National Coordination Committee to extend the lockdown

The final decision will be announced by the meeting of the National Coordination Committee presided by the PM Khan today evening.

According to the data received by the National Command and Control Centre, the total number of affected patients in the country has reached up to 5,716 and the number of reported deaths is 96.

1,378 patients have recovered so far.

Punjab has reported the most number of cases so far, with the toll reaching up to 2,826, Sindh is close behind, with a toll of 1,452. There are 800 cases reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 231 from Balochistan, 233 are from Gilgit-Baltistan, 131 cases are from Islamabad and Azad Jammu Kashmir has reported 43 cases.

The virus cases are becoming severe in the Lahore city, due to which 10 areas are fully sealed. Some areas in Islamabad have also been sealed.
