Lahore, 22nd April: Health experts from Indus Hospital Karachi have warned that resuming the congregational prayers in the mosques will spike the spread of COVID-19.

According to Baaghi TV, Dr. Abdul Bari from the Indus Hospital has warned the government that opening the mosques is not a favorable idea in a situation when a pandemic is still lurking in the country.

Dr. Bari said that the reported number of coronavirus cases has gone doubled in the last five days than the amount that was in the previous one and a half months.

According to him, however, the virus has not yet reached its peak in Pakistan. The peak will reportedly reach in the third week of May. He said the opening of mosques would expedite the virus.

The doctor has appealed to the government and the religious scholars to review their decision in regard to the offering of congregational prayers and Taraweh during Ramadan in the mosques. People should be requested to stay home and offer their prayers to stop the further spread of the virus.

Dr. Bari says that whether a crowded market, shop, or mosque, all these places are vulnerable to the virus and should be avoided at all costs. Our health infrastructure is very weak. If out front line doctors and nurses get infected, then who will look after the affected patients?

Dr Qasir Sajjad says the government should not ease the lockdown, if we want to avoid the devastation from the coronavirus, then the SOPs should be made to follow strictly.

It is to be noted that different experts from Pakistan, UK and Saudi Arabia have written a letter to the Ulema and the Government urging the Ulema to review their decision on halting the prayers and Taraweh in mosques.

Baaghi TV urges you to play your part as a responsible citizen by staying at home to ensure the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and the community.
