Turkey has facilitated Pakistan by donating protective gear in efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the spokesman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Turkish Airlines carrying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)s arrived in Islamabad in the morning from Turkey.

The protective equipment includes 20,000 N-95 masks and 18,500 protective gowns. Earlier this month, Turkey had sent medical supplies to nearly 30 nations to support efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has sent supplies such as protective equipment and sanitiser to Balkan countries, as well as, Spain, Italy and the UK.

The medical supplies were handed over by Turkish Ambassador to Islamabad Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul to Pakistani officials at the Islamabad International Airport.

“A special Turkish Airlines flight brought 20,000 masks, 50,000 protective suits and 100,000 face shields for our Pakistani brothers and sisters,” Yurdakul told media.

The Turkish ambassador, in his remarks, said Ankara would not leave Pakistanis alone at this trying time.
