COVID-19: 1 dies in every 10 mins in Iran
Lahore, 20th March: The country which is suffering the most number of deaths after China and Italy, is Iran, where at least 1 person is dying in every 10 mins, increasing their death toll to 149 so far. Nearly 18,500 have been infected and at least 1,284 people have died of Covid-19 in the country, the highest death toll outside of China and Italy. One of the main reasons for the increasing death toll in Iran is the shortage of medical facilities and the safety gear and kits, which has forced the medics to treat the sick without proper care. On Thursday Kianush Jahanpur, the health ministry spokesman said the crisis was so severe that Covid-19 was killing at least half a dozen an hour. The World Health Organisation, however, has warned Iran’s toll was potentially five times higher as the testing has been restricted to the “most severe cases”.
