COVID-19: 14 days lockdown in Punjab
Lahore, 23rd March: Punjab Chief Minister, Usman Buzdar made a very important announcement on Monday after the toll in Pakistan crossed 800.
According to the reports of Baaghi TV, the government of Punjab has declared a 14-day lockdown in the province keeping in view the increasing number of coronavirus people in Punjab.
“During this time shopping malls, public transport, public places, and tourist spots will remain closed. In the larger interest of the public, we have also banned pillion riding, although families will be exempted.”
The chief minister further elaborated that the factories producing necessary products will not be subject to the lockdown conditions.
The chief minister said that the grocery stores, fruit markets, bakeries, and meat shops will not be closed. However, he clarified that the province was not undergoing a lockdown neither a curfew. According to him, this is ‘a lockdown with a little change’.
The Chief Minister has announced that all unnecessary shops will be closed under the Punjab Government order to ensure the safety of the citizens from the further spread of the virus.
It may be noted that the government has called upon the Pak Army to intervene to control the spread of the virus. Shortly after the announcement, a meeting chaired by Buzdar and Corps Commander Lahore reviewed the measures taken to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading in Punjab. Arrangements for the medical treatment of patients were also analyzed.
Corps Commander Lahore has ensured that they will lend full support to the Punjab Government Authorities in tackling the coronavirus in the country.
Pakistan on Monday reported its sixth death from the coronavirus as the total tally of infected persons rose to 803 across the country.
