Excise Department launched crackdown against sale of smuggled cigarettes in Islamabad.
According to details from Excise Department, cigarettes worth 200 thousand were recovered in raid by excise department and federal police in different areas of Capital city.
Teams issued chalan to 50 shopkeepers for selling non custom paid cigarettes and more than 15 shops were sealed after heavy fine.Raid were conducted on more than 75 shops in F-11,E-9 areas of Islamabad.
Illegal import of cigarettes cause a loss of 35 billion rupees to national treasure.Last month Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered a crackdown against smugglers of cigarettes, and asked to seal shops selling these cigarettes.
According to sources a letter have been issued to Federal Board of Revenue and Health Ministry to crackdown against these criminals.
