ISLAMABAD, July 16 (Online Int’l): Interior Minister Ejaz Shah has told the National Assembly that  sit-ins and protest demonstrations have inflicted a loss to the tune of over Rs 1.50 billion on the national kitty since 2012.

He was giving replies to several questions from  legislators in the NA on Thursday. He pointed out that the country had to suffer a financial loss amounting to over Rs 33 million due to the 2013 dharna in Islamabad and over Rs 755 million due to 2014 dharna in Islamabad.

Responding to a question the interior ministry told the NA that the FIA in collaboration with the ministry of overseas Pakistanis is working diligently to eliminate sex smuggling and forced labor from the country.

To a question about Sikh yatris visa the house was told that Sikh yatris have been allowed to visit Kartarpur without visa. However it has  been made mandatory for them to bring an Indian passport in connection with immigration clearance process.

The interior ministry told the NA that executive passport offices are functioning in 13 districts across the country. These districts include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Multan, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.

Regarding cyber crimes the interior ministry told the house in writing that overall 50505 cyber crimes complaints were registered during the last year in the country. 11389 among them were converted into inquiries and cases were registered in respect of 1071 complaints  till September 30, 2019.
