May 19, 2021: BaaghiTV: There are rumors of holding the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League PSL season 6 in Abu Dhabi, but now strict conditions are beginning to make arrangements difficult. In these circumstances, despite the UAE Cricket Board confirming the hosting of the event, the conduct of the matches is not apparently viable. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been facing operational, vaccine, travel protocols, and many other issues from Abu Dhabi. Whether the tournament will continue is purely a half-chance at the moment according to sources at the board, either way, an announcement is expected in the near future.
So far 14 matches have been played in the tournament, after which Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi are at the first and second position with six points after playing five matches. The teams at number Three and Four are Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars respectively who both have six points after playing four matches.
Players will have to be quarantined for two days in Pakistan and seven days in the UAE. Those who break the quarantine will be expelled from the league. According to sources, all the expenses including the booking of flights of the players, hotel accommodation will be reviewed and a new budget will be prepared for the remaining matches after the change of venue. The PCB will consult with all franchises on the budget, after which the budget for the remaining matches in Abu Dhabi will be approved.
It may be recalled that Pakistan Super League season 6 started in Karachi on February 20 and the matches of the event were to be played in two cities of the country Karachi and Lahore this time. However, on March 4, the PSL was suspended after 7 players tested positive for the virus. Due to the coronavirus, the opening ceremony of the event was also pre-recorded this time, while the permission of the spectators was initially up to 20% which was later increased to 50% depending on the situation.
