The day India began its Covid-19 vaccination drive across the country, resident doctors of Delhi’s premier Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital have shot a letter to the hospital superintendent saying they do not want to take the Bharat Biotech vaccine Covaxin.

The Resident Doctors’ Association of RML Hospital has said the doctors are apprehensive of the Covaxin since their trials have not been completed.

“We would like to bring to your notice that the residents are a bit apprehensive about the lack of complete trial Covaxin and might not participate in huge numbers thus defeating the purpose of vaccination,” said the doctors of RML Hospital, which is one of the 81 centres in Delhi where the government held the vaccination drive on Saturday.

The doctors have also said, “We request you to vaccinate us with Covishield which has completed all stages of the trial before its roll out.”
