Lahore, 21st June: Former JUI-F leader and cleric Mufti Aziz ur Rehman, who sexually abused a student, confessed to his crime during interrogation.
According to reports from police, Mufti Aziz confessed to his heinous crime during interrogation on Monday.
As per reports, Aziz and his sons were presented before the court today in Lahore, where the police requested for physical remand of the cleric.
In response, the court granted the permission to carry out a four-day physical remand of the accused and ordered them to proceed with his DNA test and medical examination.
Police reported that Aziz-ur-Rehman who is the former superintendent of the Jamia Manzor Al-Islamia in Lahore Cantt has confessed the crime he did. He said that the video that went viral featured him and that his student had filmed the video without his knowledge.
The cleric also confessed that he had lured the student named Sabir Shah to give him passing marks and later he sexually abused him.
He also said that once the video got leaked he got scared of the consequences. His sons then threatened the student and told him not to speak to anyone about it. However, despite the threats, the student leaked the video to expose them.
The cleric also revealed that he posted a video to issue his statement to save himself from getting expelled from the madrassah.
Soon after the police registered a case against Aziz, who fled from the madrassah to seek refuge at one of his student’s houses. On the other hand, the police reported that Aziz went into hiding in different areas including Township, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Mianwali.
The police confirmed that Aziz and his sons were later arrested from Mianwali after they were traced via the location of their mobile phones.
It is to be remembered that last week a video went viral on social where Mufti Aziz was seen sexually assaulting one of his students from Maradssah. The police arrested the cleric on June 17, after people on social media expressed outrage against the act.
