ISLAMABAD, (23th March, 2021, 12:23 am) (APP):Senator Shibli Faraz on Monday said all the elements involved in the mishandling of matters pertaining to Broadsheet would be taken to task.
The Broadsheet Inquiry Commission’s report would be made public soon and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government would surely take action against the responsible as a colossal amount was paid from the national exchequer, he said talking to a private news channel.
As regards the Swiss accounts, Shibli Faraz said the then prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had to resign as he refused to write a letter to the Swiss authorities for details about the bank accounts of his party leader.
About hike in the power tariff, he said it was due to the expensive agreements signed by the past regimes with the Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The incumbent government, however, renegotiated with the IPPs to rationalize the rates. Prime Minister Imran Khan was well aware of the people’s problems and his government was talking all possible measures to provide relief to them, he added.
To a question, Shibli Faraz said PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz was playing a dangerous game by levelling baseless allegations against the national institutions. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was promoting the culture of violent agitation among its workers, he added.
He endorsed the statement of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari about the Sharif family that it remained a ‘selected’ one since its inception.
