Ellen DeGeneres’s viewership smashes down

Lahore, 24th March: American television host Ellen DeGeneres lost millions of viewers of her show after the workplace scandal.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, Ellen DeGeneres’s workplace scandal not only tarnished her show’s reputation beyond repair but the host now has to face another setback.

According to the reports from The New York Times, the talk show host lost over a million viewers for the 18th season of ‘Tthe Ellen Show’.

Reports from NYT states that the show whose viewership used to soar high soon after it’s premiering has now dropped down from 2.6 million to an average of 1.5 million views after its new season premiered in September.

Moreover, after DeGeneres contracted COVID-19 in December, the rating of the show rating took a hit as ‘The Ellen Show’ had to then go for an unplanned hiatus.

According to reports, the sharp decline in the viewership also led to a loss of profit that was $131 million in the years 2019 and 2020, which went down to $27 million this year.

Dean of Chapman University’s Dodge College of film and media arts, Stephen Galloway, told NYT, “Her brand is not just being fairly nice, it is ‘Be Kind.’ She’s chosen two words to stamp herself. You cannot have hypocrisy better defined than when you’ve chosen those two words to define yourself and everyone is seeing the opposite is true inside your show.”

According to Baaghi TV reports, last year in 2020, many of the show’s former employees stood up and alleged the renowned TV host of abusive behaviour and claimed they experienced racism, fear and intimidation on the set. This fiasco led to an internal investigation.

According to further reports, soon after DeGeneres issued an apology at the beginning of the show’s new season and tried to make amends.
