EU announces 5.5 billion for endangered countries
During an online meeting, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the European Union would provide 5.5 billion in financial assistance to countries at risk in its efforts to recover from the global pandemic.
He said a global strategy was needed to develop and distribute the vaccine.
“If you think you can defeat the virus by vaccinating your people and ignoring others, then this idea is wrong. I mean, we live in a connected world.”
“No country can go back to normal if another country is still fighting the virus. So first we need a vaccine. Then the vaccine needs to be made cheaper.”
“That’s why I’m trying to get high-income countries to collect vaccines for low- and middle-income countries as well. This is our campaign. ”
